You would have like, shaved it.

So, it’s Wednesday and the last day of June. Already. I really can’t quite believe how fast the beginning of my summer break went. July brings summer band rehearsals and assisting parking for the county fair as a member of Skills. I returned from Florida Sunday night. The flight back was kind of hectic. I had a layover in Cleveland and my plane from Orlando was late, so I had to run all the way across the entire Cleveland airport and up four flights of stairs (because God forbid the escalators or elevators work, right?) only to find out that my gate had been changed, and my flight delayed. By an hour. So I didn’t get home until like eleven something, whereas I should have been home a little after nine.

But overall, I really enjoyed myself. There’s nothing like finally being able to meet your best friend. Haha.

While there, I did take some pictures. One of them, Vitality, was named by Dusty. She hacked my deviantART account and, beyond changing my ID and adding new submissions, xD, she also went through and renamed all my Untitled pictures. Lydia commented on how good of a name it was, and Dusty was freaking out. So I videotaped it and thought I would share, because it’s hilarious. xD

You’re HAPPY? This is you HAPPY?!

I took a bunch of other videos, but whether or not I’ll put them up is a different question entirely. We’ll see what happens. :D

“Oh, boo-hoo.” I know you’re thinking it.

Not anything all too exciting has happened in the past week of no updating. This week is my last week of school and exams start Tuesday, which means my requirement to be in school for the full time is no longer there as I can leave whenever I don’t need to do an exam. Which is nice.

Tomorrow is graduation and we play at it for the band. It’s funny, because this time last year, on TWD, I made a post on what happened at graduation, and I remember someone commenting and congratulating me for graduating. They missed my explanation that I was there for band, haha. And this year I’m going to be there to say goodbye to a few friends as well. Goodbyes are depressing and it makes me extremely upset to just think that this time next year I’m going to be saying a lot more goodbyes. I mention to my stand partner at school how depressing that is going to be and he insists Skype is going to solve it for him. I have a Skype, yes. But I’m going to miss simply seeing my classmates, even the ones I don’t talk to — which is not something I am going to be able to solve in any way shape or form.

Today I started a story, and two hours later it died. I wrote the first chapter and had part of the prologue done when it occurred to me that it wasn’t going anywhere at all. I also despise the female “lead” because she’s so weak and it was just. A mess. Just –

Haha. “Every Breath You Take” by the Police just came on Pandora. This song is, I swear to God, the stalker song of America. One day my mom and I went to Pick’N'Save (and because I discovered that they’re only in the Midwest or something, that’s a grocery store) at like eleven at night and the cashiers were belting this song out. It was hilarious. And now I miss my mom.

– yeah. So I decided to scrap it. It would have happened anyway.

I really want to learn how to speak Italian. But the college I am hoping to go to does not have foreign languages. So I guess I’m going to have to see if there’s some online class or something, or maybe look into Rosetta Stone.

1. If you could learn any language, what would it be?
2. Are there any songs that just make you laugh?
3. How are you? :D

I’ve never been so sure.

“Reflex. Reflection. Click. Off the top of your head. The sum of what you see, think you see, remember, project… I came, I saw, I conquired. Veni vidi vici = to photograph.”
– William Klein

I’ve never been so absolutely, positively sure that being a photographer is what I want, until I went through the Street Seen exhibit at the Milwaukee Art Museum. The entire thing (save for one painting that I’m not sure why it was included here) consisted of photography. Photography almost all in black and white, going back to, if I remember right, World War II. It was fantastic. It was beautiful. Some were blurry, some were sharp, some were spontaneous, some were planned. But they were all completely and totally amazing.

I may never be able to live up to the photography of people like William Klein, Robert Frank, Saul Leiter, any of the others displayed, or even any wonderful photographers like them, but I will die trying. And I will die happy.

“Black and white are the colors of photography. To me they symbolize the alternatives of hope and despair to which mankind is forever subjected.”
– Robert Frank

We went to the art museum today as a field trip for AP Language. Prior to today, I had never actually been inside the Milwaukee Art Museum. But it’s a fantastically designed building. The main lobby area and the walkway leading into the collections is designed like a ship, with huge windows over-looking Lake Michigan and the walkway along the beach. I have two pictures that show the inside of the lobby, facing toward the windows. I also have one that shows the ‘ceiling’ of the lobby.

I think the only depressing part about the museum part of the field trip was having to watch tons and tons of kids my age with SLR cameras. ): You’re probably thinking “What a stupid thing to be bothered by.” Well, if any of you know Islie… all I can say is that I want this camera about as much as she wants to meet Johnny Depp, if not more.

Oh yes, I went there.

None of the people I saw had Canons though. They were all Nikons (of the SLRs) or the little tiny Fuji things that make my camera look like an SLR.

Which just means that if I ever get my hands on the 7D and I go back, I’ll kick some serious behind.

“Seeing is a neglected enterprise.”
– Saul Leiter

While I highly recommend visiting the Milwaukee Art Museum (even though, unless I know you from school, you probably do not live in the area), one thing I do not recommend is eating at the restaurant known as “5 Guys”. It was extremely disgusting. Unless you like grease filled hamburgers (and I mean really filled) and fries so greasy they’re slimy, you won’t like it.

If you like heart attacks, it’s probably for you.

Anyway, on a site-related note, you can clearly see bcf got a make-over. New layout, finally. And I’m going to try to avoid neglecting my updating here. I’ve just been busy with “should be doing homeworks” and running around and a whole bunch of other things.

I did, though, create a wallpaper based off of this picture that I took. Hopefully I’ll be able to get that up soon.

1. Do you like museums? What are your favorites?
2. If you could have one thing, what would it be? *
3. If I made a subdomain here for my photography, do you think I should make it a simple gallery, or make it a photoblog? Any name suggestions?
4. The sidebar looks really empty. Any content ideas?

* I asked this one before, if I remember correctly. But desires change.

Edit / I CAN’T BELIEVE I FORGOT THIS! I got an iguana! His name is Machiavelli, or Mac for short. He’s a baby. Out of all of his possible places to sit, he prefers my head. Dork.
