Open your eyes.

So after wandering about like a long lost hobo without anything new to write about, I finally found something to say besides “Happy Thanksgiving.” And it’s actually related to this holiday, so it works out.

On one of the sites I go on, I was browsing the general chat boards and I found someone with a thread entitled “Happy Kill All the Native Americans Day” where conversation kind of took on the feel of how Americans or the “white men” are so terrible because we killed Native Americans. Maybe I’m over-reacting about this one little thread, but it goes beyond this.

It always seems like all the hate is directed at America, and it’s due to the fact that we’re the leading world power. If you look at history, the hate always goes to the leading country. Just like there’s always hate to the current leader of the country (although I think Obama needs it — but that is another story). People look at our history and point out the people we have killed and go “OH MY GOD YOU KILLED ALL THOSE PEOPLE YOU HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE COUNTRY.”

… Do people NOT realize that, like, EVERY country has blood on its hands at some point in time? I’m not saying killing is right. I’m not saying I’m proud to say I’m an American when I look at the Native Americans our founders killed, the land we took, or the innocent Japanese lives lost in the dropping of the atomic bomb, or how we put Japanese-Americans in concentration camps due to nothing but paranoia, and all the other times we were, well, not doing any good.

But, let’s take a look here.

The Native Americans killed plenty of the people who came to the New World as well, and they killed other tribes and other people. Okay, yeah, the settlers did come onto the land that was taken by the Native Americans. It may not have been taken in the way that they viewed property, but it was taken. So maybe this wasn’t the best example, but the point is that they killed people as well.

The dropping of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This is not a proud moment, in my opinion. But let us please rewind a little and take a look at the fact that Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. It was primarily a military base, yes, so there weren’t as many civilian deaths, but Hiroshima and Nagasaki were chosen because they were industrial locations, for the same reason. We also have to take into consideration that if America had not developed the atomic bomb, someone else would have. Although Germany wasn’t as far as we were, they were messing with the same stuff.

No, I’m not trying to justify what Americans have done in the past. I’m trying to even the playing field, because the reality is that war is not pretty. War does not have a total winner, because each side loses a lot. And for each side to lose a lot, each side has to deal many blows. Everyone is related to someone, no matter how distantly, who killed someone else.

Open your eyes and face the facts. No one is innocent in this kind of thing.

Edit / Created a few new icons. I really like this one right here, so much. We’ll see how long that lasts though. The icons I put up are under Icons > Movies > HP, Icons > Characters > Batman and Icons > Weather > Winter.

Also, since I forgot the questions before, here you go:

1. What else should I make for graphics, besides icons?
2. Did you enjoy your Thanksgiving, if you are from the States?
3. What are some things that irritate you that most people probably don’t care about?

Awesome sites and music.

You want to know what really, really makes me happy (ignoring the fact that I nearly messed myself — it’s extremely quiet, being that I’m home alone, and my phone suddenly went off because my dad decided to text me)? In my spare time, when I’m to the point that I’m just a hair’s breadth away from dying due to excruciating boredom, I browse websites. Usually I find it difficult to find new ones that aren’t commercial websites. I like the portfolios, the blogs, the ones with captivating layouts and interesting people.

Which brings me to what makes me happy.

I love stumbling upon the website of a professional webdesigner who has a sense of humor. Anyone who looks like they should be a big-shot in the business area, profiting greatly from their talents, but who still have the sense to make you laugh by browsing their advertisements and comments can make my day.

Jaredigital Portfolio has got to be one of the best examples I have at my dispense right now. The credits at the bottom made me smile, and I really needed to smile.

I found that site while browsing this other site I stumbled upon, called Melly.me, where I found this article. I’m considering looking more into those commenting systems and possibly switching over… WordPress is nice but I’ve been wanting to try something different for some time now. I’m not entirely sure why, but WordPress just… I dunno. Something simpler would be nice since I don’t use any of the add-ons here. But we’ll see… we’ll see.

Over this past weekend, it occurred to me how fast Christmas is coming. Not only did my favorite radio station switch to only Christmas music (sigh) but I also marched in a Christmas parade for band. I like the holiday for the most part (sort of, I guess…) but I think it’s a bit early for only Christmas music and a parade. It’s not even Thanksgiving yet, for crying out loud. And so I am stuck, listening to songs like Jingle Bells and I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas. Since Saturday, I think I have already heard every single Christmas song at least twice. That’s really kind of sad.

But I’m too lazy to find another radio station like this one (being that my former favorite changed and become a total fail), so I’m stuck.

Speaking of music… I also saw my school’s musical on Saturday. What can I say? It was beyond amazing. It made me really proud to say this was my school, these were my classmates. The talent was just unbelievable. I don’t even know where to begin. So all I can say is… although only one of you is likely to read this (Yes you, Kyle), you guys were amazing. Which I already said on Facebook, but have to say again, because… God… you guys had a wonderful performance.

Also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO DUSTY, MICK (my stepdad) AND FLUFFY (mom’s friend). All three of them have their birthdays today. As well as a teacher, I think, but I don’t know who. Someone just mentioned it in Language.

1. If you had to choose between a life where you had complete freedom to make your choices (but found decision making to be difficult) or a life where a person or group of people made the decisions for you, which would you take? (i.e. democracy or communisim)
2. What would you do if your favorite radio station started playing Christmas music already and you can’t find another good station?
3. How does the end of the year drawing nearer make you feel?

Mon Dieu, que vos enfants sont laids!

I fixed the footer issue. I can most definitely say it had to have been the easiest fix in the entire world, I cannot believe that I did not think of it right away. Why I didn’t even code it this way in the first place. I had position:relevant; when I should’ve had position:absolute; bottom:0px; left:11px;. I seriously wanted to cry after I did that and it worked. I feel so stupid.

But anyway, now that we have established my intelligence level…

I really don’t have much to blog about. |: I’ve been pretty busy and every rant I’ve considered, every idea of something to discuss here, is lost before I get the chance to get on the computer. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad though. Everything comes and goes real fast. My mind has been… caught up on other things lately, I guess.

So I guess I’m just letting you know that I am, indeed, alive. I haven’t replied to a bunch of comments, but I’ll try to get around to responding when I get the chance… if not, I’m really sorry. :C I’m kind of being a loser right now, ha.

If you guys have any ideas on graphics you want to see on the site, that’d be awesome if you could let me know. I’m not sure what to make anymore. Please nothing that is like, site-specific. Forum stuff is fine but if it’s like… guild layouts or something, I’m not going to do it. Sorry, it’s been too long and I’m not interested in having that on here.

So, yeah. Let me know, post here or something.
